England seamer Reece Topley is likely to miss out on the entire English summer this season as he has been ruled out for at least four weeks after picking up a side strain while playing in the second division T20 Championship for surrey’s second XI. The left-arm pacer was one of the top choices to represent England in six T20Is and an equal number of ODIs which they play against Sri Lanka and Pakistan as part of their white-ball commitments this season.
The 27-year-old has had a relatively successful County Championship campaign with Surrey, picking 15 wickets in four games. He made a strong case of himself and was sure to get a few international games under his belt for sure.
Not only will the Ipswich born miss the remaining two Championship matches but is out of the T20 Blast 2021 group stage as well, putting a lot of pressure on Surrey who yesterday lost another weapon from their bowling arsenal in the form of Sean Abbott due to injury.
Surrey are a part of the South Group in the Blast and begin their campaign against Middlesex on June 10. at Lord's.
