New Zealand all-rounder Jimmy Neesham has undergone surgery after suffering from a compound dislocation on his left ring finger during a Super Smash game in the New Zealand domestic T20 competition. The news was announced by his team Wellington on their official Twitter handle.
Neesham,30, has been diagnosed with a splint and will be reviewed by a hand specialist in a week’s time. The all-rounder has been a part of Smash’s good run in the tournament, actually a winning run which was only stopped after their last game defeat against Canterbury at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, where they lost the game by four wickets.
It was the same game where Neesham got injured even as he scored 49 of 38 balls. His team has been leading the points table and the dynamic all-rounder is expected to return to the folds once again by the time the last round games begin.
As for the Super Smash is concerned, Fin Allen of Auckland is leading the run-scorer charts with 349 runs in six innings, the bowler's chart is being led by Matt Henry who has picked up ni8ne wickets in five games.
