Even as the race to the semifinals at the ICC World Cup 2023 further intensifies, a section of cricket lovers can't help but think about their much-loved Indian Premier League (IPL).

Cricket lovers and even commentators associated with the annual T20 carnival continue to find the IPL angle about matches of the ongoing quadrennial event in India.

Former India player Subramaniam Badrinath on Thursday (October 26) provided the IPL touch to the critical league stage clash between defending champions England and former winners Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

Badrinath noted how both the Three Lions and their Lankan rivals boast of multiple players part of the immensely popular Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

The MS Dhoni-led side, for which Badrinath plied his trade in his prime and acted as an important middle-order cog in the IPL, highlighted the presence of Maheesha Theekshana in the Sri Lankan camp and Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali in the England side.

Badrinath Highlights CSK Touch About ENG-SL Clash

As the Lankan mystery spinner ran in with the ball against the England middle-order duo, Badrinath got reminded of their CSK association and amusingly wrote either way the successful franchise will come out triumphant.

Badrinath pleased his CSK fans and followers on Twitter by speaking of the individual battle forged by Theekshana against the popular allround duo of Stokes and Moeen.

All three cricketers have been an integral part of Dhoni's yellow army in the marquee IPL where CSK have lifted the coveted crown five times.

Notably, the trio of Theekshana, Stokes and Moeen aren't the only ones associated with CSK inside the English and Sri Lankan camps.

Sri Lanka's injured young speedster Matheesha Pathirana, who was ruled out of the tournament with shoulder concerns, has also been involved with CSK in the last two editions of the IPL and is considered a product of Dhoni's sharp eye for cricketing talent.
