Sourav Ganguly Avoids Major Mishap As He Survives Scary Car Accident

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly survived a car crash on the Durgapur Expressway this morning. Ganguly, 52, remained entirely unharmed even though his convoy of cars had to halt for 10 minutes or so to take stock of the situation.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The only little damage was done to Ganguly’s Range Rover and the car behind it (part of his convoy) in a crash involving three vehicles.

What Happened To Sourav Ganguly Today?

For the unversed, Sourav Ganguly was traveling to Burdwan, a district in the Indian state of West Bengal, to attend a university event. In spite of the mishap, Ganguly not only turned up at the event to interact with students and the faculty but also attended another programme organised by Burdwan Sports Association.

As per reports, Ganguly’s driver had no option but to suddenly apply breaks when a lorry tried to overtake their convoy in Dantanpur. As a result, causing the accident.

“I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS [Burdwan Sports Association] was asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today. CAB has been working with the Burdwan sports organisation for 50 years. Many players have emerged from the district. We will have to recruit players from the district in the same way in the future as well,” Hindustan Times quoted Ganguly during the event.

It was four years ago when Ganguly had complaint of chest discomfort which had led to him undergoing a stenting procedure while getting hospitalized twice.

Sourav Ganguly's Current And Upcoming Stints

On the work front, Ganguly is currently working as a Director of Cricket for JSW Sports, i.e., the Capitals franchise in the SA20 and Women’s Premier League. However, the former Kolkata Knight Riders captain won’t be working directly with Delhi Capitals in Indian Premier League 2025.
