Many people have raised their eyebrows since the news broke on Friday that Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans, who won the title in 2022, is all set to return to the Mumbai Indians before the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The talismanic all-rounder, whose journey began with the Mumbai-based franchise, is ready to be in his earlier colours, as the deal is set to be completed for a whopping INR 15 crore.
While there are plenty of reports regarding who should be the Titans’ next captain, the franchise, in the middle of all this, dropped a massive hint on Saturday on social media.
There, they posted a video highlighting Shubman Gill’s thoughts. Unsurprisingly, netizens across social media handles took little time to talk about the matter, as Gill, fondly called the Prince, is potentially to become Hardik’s successor.

Even though the Titans have two solid captaincy candidates in Rashid Khan and Kane Williamson, it would be wise for them to hand Gill the skipper's hat. The 24-year-old had an incredible campaign with the bat in IPL 2023, and over time, he has emerged as the next big thing in Indian cricket, similar to Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.
Given that the retention and released confirmations prior to the start of the bidding war should be confirmed by Sunday, November 26, the final announcement should not take long. The auction, meanwhile, will be held in Dubai on December 19.
