Pakistan veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik caused a massive uproar after leaving BPL 2024 abruptly in the backdrop of spot-fixing allegations. However, after clarification from the Fortune Barishal owners, the veteran is set to rejoin the squad on the 2nd of February.

Shoaib Malik was caught in the eye of the storm when his expensive 18-run over against the Khulna Tigers caught the fans' attention. The spin all-rounder overstepped three times, which led to spot-fixing allegations.

The situation worsened when Malik left the Fortune Barishal squad mid-way to return to Dubai, citing personal reasons. Many speculated Malik's contract being terminated with immediate effect.

However, the BPL team owner came to the all-rounder's rescue and squashed all conspiracy theories.

Later, Shoaib Malik also issued a statement and explained the actual reason behind his abrupt leave. Malik clarified he had to attend to a media commitment in Dubai, and his contract had not been terminated over foul play charges.

Meanwhile, as per the latest rumor from ESPNcricinfo, Shoaib Malik is set to rejoin the Fortune Barishal squad on Friday, the 2nd of February. He will be available for selection for Barishal's last Sylhet leg game against Khulna Tigers.

Since Malik left to adhere to his prior commitment, his replacement, Ahmed Shehzad, has taken over the BPL by storm. He slammed a match-winning knock of 66 runs off 41 deliveries to topple the Strikers.

Thus, it would be interesting to see how skipper Tamim Iqbal accommodates the duo in the playing XI for the rest of the BPL season.

That being said, Shoaib Malik's numbers have been standard this BPL season. In his three outings, Malik scored 7, 5, and 17 runs while batting at number 6. While he bowled one over each in the initial two games, the skipper kept Malik out of the bowling attack in the third game.
