The IPL 2025 season is yet to commence but Mumbai Indians have already suffered a massive jolt in the form of Jasprit Bumrah. As per a report by TOI, the star pacer hasn't fully recovered from his back injury and might miss the first two weeks of the upcoming season.
He will join the Mumbai Indians camp in April as he is undergoing rehab at BCCI's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The leader of the bowling attack missed the Champions Trophy as well due to the same back issue.
"Bumrah's medical reports are okay, and he has resumed bowling at CoE. However, it is highly unlikely that he'll be bowl at the start of the IPL. As per current status, the first week of April looks a more realistic date for him to get back to high intensity training," a BCCI source told TOI.
Matches Bumrah can miss in IPL 2025
For starters, Bumrah will miss the El Classico against Chennai Super Kings, which is the first game for MI in IPL 2025.
Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders and Lucknow Super Giants are the next three opponents for MI and he might miss those games as well. The 5-time champions will take on RCB on April 7 and Jasprit Bumrah could make a return for this clash.
BCCI wants Bumrah fit for England series
India will travel to England for a riveting Test series and BCCI wants their ace pacer to be fit for that series. With uncertainty surrounding Rohit Sharma's Test future as captain, Bumrah is the front-runner to lead India and the board wants him to be hundred percent fit.
