Senior Women's T20 | Kiran Navgire continues her dream run for Nagaland

The last day of the league stage witnessed some intense competition among teams bidding to make the knockouts. Railways, Maharashtra, Odisha, Baroda and Mumbai sailed into the quarter-finals after topping their respective groups. Nagaland made it to the next stage from the Plate division.

Railways ease into the quarters with a win over Madhya Pradesh

Defending champions Railways ended the league stage with a five-wicket victory over Madhya Pradesh. Put in to bat first, Madhya Pradesh managed 124/6 in their 20 overs. Opener Neha Badwaik (52) and skipper Pooja Vastrakar (44) were the chief contributors with the bat. Railways chased the target in 19.5 overs, with captain Sneh Rana top-scoring with 36. An all-around effort from Railways has allowed them to top Elite Group C.

Kiran Navgire continues her dream run to take Nagaland to the knockout stage

With 469 runs from six matches, Nagaland’s Kiran Navgire sits at the top on the leading run scorers’ list. In the last league match against Sikkim, she scored 57 off 36 balls, studded with five fours and three sixes. 

Sikkim’s bowlers proved to be no match for Nagaland as the latter put on a humongous score of 181/2 in 20 overs. Navgire left no stone unturned in the game as she scalped four wickets too. As a result, Sikkim fell short by 79 runs, handing Nagaland their sixth victory on the trot.
