The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) added spinner Jayant Yadav and pace bowler, Navdeep Saini, to the Indian ODI squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa.
The decision was taken after off-spinner Washington Sundar was ruled out of the series after testing positive for Covid-19 during the team camp in Bengaluru. While Sundar was supposed to make his India comeback with this series having been injured post the team’s tour of England in 2021, the All-India Senior Selection Committee named Jayant Yadav as his replacement.
Saini was added to the ODI squad as a back-up for Mohammed Siraj who is still nursing a hamstring injury that he sustained in the 2nd Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.
