The first Test of the series between India and South Africa was at an enthralling stage with the hosts needing more than 200 more runs to win the game compared to the requirement of six wickets for India to win the game and go 1-0 up in the series. According to the weather channel Accuweather, there is a 65 per cent chance of rain playing spoilsport on the final day of the Test while there is a 39 per cent chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. As per their analysis, as many as two hours of the final day can be lost due to bad weather.

India had set South Africa a stiff target of 305 runs to chase in the final hours of the fourth day of the game.
