Bangladesh skipper Mominul Haque is confident that his side will build on their momentum in the past few months when they take on South Africa in a two-match Test series starting March 31.
Bangladesh are riding high on confidence following their historic Test win against reigning WTC champions New Zealand and maiden ODI series win in South Africa.
The momentum is certainly on their side, but Mominul knows that facing South Africa, even if they are missing several first-choice players, in Test cricket is a different kettle of fish on their turf.
But, the skipper is confident that his players will pick off from where they had left in New Zealand.
"When you start a tour with an ODI series win, it really raises the team's confidence. Of course, we have to start afresh in this Test series, and there are differences between white- and red-ball cricket. But we have confidence from the New Zealand tour. We have to play like we did in New Zealand, follow those processes, which will bring us more confidence."
The primary reason behind Bangladesh's success in recent times has been its pace attack. The likes of Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain have been central to their success. And Mominul is expecting them to continue with the excellent work in the forthcoming Tests.
"If you want to win Tests abroad, pace bowlers have to do well. If they can bring us breakthroughs at the right time, they will have a big role. They have rested and recovered over the last week. They are in a good mood. They are all in good shape, physically and mentally," he said.
South African wickets are a haven for fast bowlers, but visiting seamers often get carried away. The Bangladesh skipper further stressed the importance of sticking to basics rather than experimenting too much.
"South African wickets are helpful towards fast bowlers, but regardless of the conditions, we have to bowl well. We have to maintain discipline in our line and length wherever you bowl. You have to put the batters under pressure." he added.
The first Test between the Proteas and the touring Tigers will take place at Kingsmead in Durban starting on March 31.
