The Indian skipper joined Mumbai’s training session on January 14 (Tuesday), ahead of the second phase of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season. He is taking steps to rediscover his touch in red-ball cricket by training with the Mumbai Ranji team. It is important to note that, Rohit Sharma had a disappointing outing during Australia's recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). He managed only 31 runs across three Tests, with scores of 3, 9, 10, 3, and 6.

His struggles led him to step down from captaincy duties for the final Test in Sydney, where Jasprit Bumrah led the side. This sparked speculation about Rohit’s future in Test cricket. However, he dismissed retirement rumours, and made clear about his his commitment to the format during an interaction with the official broadcaster.

By re-engaging with domestic cricket, Rohit Sharma will aim to work on his technique and confidence ahead of India’s upcoming fixtures.

As Rohit was seen training hard with the Mumbai Ranji team, it will be interesting to see if he will play against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23.
