Rishabh Pant Set To Captain Lucknow Super Giants In IPL 2025 - Reports

The IPL 2025 created a lot of buzz among the cricket fans with the teams releasing majority of their players after the last edition and the mega auction ahead of the tournament. There were quite a few major change in team dynamics during the IPL 2025 auction. One of the major highlights of the IPL 2025 auction was the buying of Rishabh Pant by LSG for a record ₹ 27 Cr. 

As per the lates reports by ESPN Cricinfo, the franchise is all set to allow Rishabh Pant as the captain for the upcoming edition. Notably, the Indian wicketkeeper batter, KL Rahul was at the helm of the team since their induction into the league. However, ahead of IPL 2025, LSG decided to release KL Rahul, who was in turn bought by Delhi Capitals, the previous franchise of Rishabh Pant, during the mega auction.

Rishabh Pant IPL Costliest Player

Notably, the hefty sum of ₹ 27 Cr, that LSG paid for Rishabh Pant was the highest paid by any team for any player in the history of the league.  The fact that LSG are making the costliest player in IPL history their captain was foreseen by many fans and experts. 

Lucknow Super Giants made it to the playoffs in their first two goes in the league. However, in IPL 2024 they could not go past the league stage. Rishabh Pant, for whom this will be the second IPL team that he leads, will be looking to lift the coveted IPL trophy with LSG in the upcoming edition.

LSG Retentions Ahead Of IPL 2025 Auction

The Lucknow Super Giants retained five of their players from the last season for IPL 2025. These five players were -  Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Ayush Badoni and Mohsin Khan. Besides these five players the Super Giants also too special care to form a solid squad for IPL 2025. Now, the management will hope that with Pant they can attain new glories with a strong side at his disposal.
