  • Rishabh Pant May Have Played A Significant Role In Cricket Australia And Disney Star Deal

Rishabh Pant may have played a significant role in Cricket Australia and Disney Star deal

Disney Star bagged a media rights deal with Cricket Australia. The deal will allow the media giants to broadcast international and Big Bash matches played in Australia for audiences in India and other territories of Asia.

The seven-year deal will commence from 2023-24 onwards and it will encompass both television and digital rights. On July 24, Cricket Australia took to their social media accounts to confirm their new association with Disney Star.

Apparently, India’s dynamic wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant may have played a key role in the partnership, as per a report from The Sydney Morning Herald.

The report states that Pant’s match-winning 89* on the final day of the blockbuster 2021 Gabba Test remains fresh in the memory of the executives and they are keen on broadcasting many such memorable moments in the near future.

His innings turned out to be a series-winning one for the tourists, who were ravaged by injuries on that tour.

Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley expressed his delight at the broadcasting merger. He also described Disney Star as a network which is synonymous with the game in India. He said:

“We are delighted to announce this new association with Disney Star from season 2023-24 onwards. Disney Star is synonymous with the game in India and we look forward to working with them to showcase the outstanding cricket played in Australia every summer.”
