Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered yet another setback as all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League. Shankar suffered a hamstring injury in the game against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday.
He suffered the injury while bowling his second over of the game. He was seen clutching his left hamstring after delivering the penultimate ball of the over. He limped his way out of the park in the company of the physio. Skipper David Warner bowled the final delivery of the over. In the same match, Wriddhiman Saha sustained a groin injury.
“Unfortunately, he’s (Saha) got a little groin niggle but hopefully, it isn’t too bad. Shankar has a hamstring issue as well.” Warner said post the game. While Saha has recovered from the injury, Shankar has been ruled out. The Tamil Nadu cricketer scored a vital fifty in the game against Rajasthan Royals and he was very much in the scheme of things for SRH.
Shankar picked four wickets in the competition at an economy of 6.22 apart from scoring 97 runs with the bat. Earlier, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mitch Marsh were ruled out of IPL 2020 due to injuries.
An official statement is awaited.
This is a developing story.
