The IPL 2025 official schedule is yet to be released, however, as per Cricbuzz, the opening fixture of the tournament will take place between the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The first match of the IPL 2025 season will take place at the Eden Gardens.

As per the report, the season will commence on March 22, and interestingly, the finale will also take place at the Gardens on May 25. The second game of the season will be between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.

The official schedule for the entire event was set to be revealed last week, however, the announcement was delayed. The board did share the tentative details with the franchise owners. A few weeks ago, BCCI Vice-President, Rajiv Shukla stated that the IPL 2025 was set to begin on March 23, however, the board revised the dates and will begin the competition, a day earlier.

IPL 2025 key updates

  • RCB Vs KKR will begin the tournament on March 22 at the Eden Gardens.
  • SRH Vs RR will follow a day later as last year's finalists will be looking to start the tournament with a win.
  • Just like last season, Dharamsala will host IPL matches this season as well, It is expected that the venue will play host to at-least 3 IPL matches.
  • Qualifier 1 & Eliminator will take place in Hyderabad, while the finale will be held at the Eden Gardens, the home of the IPL 2024 champions.

Guwahati to play host to Rajasthan Royals' matches

Apart from the ten main venues and Dharamsala, Guwahati will also be a venue for the IPL games and will be a home to Rajasthan Royals. Their initial home fixtures will take place in Guwahati, with the Royals taking on Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings.
