Ravi Ashwin Congratulates Nathan Lyon For Completing 500 Test Wickets

Ravichandran Ashwin has congratulated Nathan Lyon after the Australian off-spinner completed 500 Test wickets during the course of his match-winning spell against Pakistan in Perth.
The Indian all-rounder took to X (formerly Twitter) and acknowledged Lyon’s feat, considering the latter became only the second off-spinner in Test history after Sri Lankan wizard Muthiah Muralidaran to get to the landmark figure.

Ravichandran Ashwin congratulated his ‘friend’ Nathan Lyon for his historic 500-wicket Test milestone by sharing a heartfelt post on X. The legendary Indian all-rounder wrote:
“8th bowler and only the 2nd off spinner in history to pick 500 test wickets. @NathLyon421 congrats mate 🐐🐐”
Prior to Australia’s Perth Test against Pakistan, Nathan Lyon praised Ravichandran Ashwin and claimed that he had learned a lot of tricks from the Indian all-rounder whenever the two cricketers crossed paths on the field.
Both Lyon and Ashwin subsequently discussed about a potential ‘home and away’ friendly catch-up, where the two would enjoy ‘a nice feed’ while talking about their Test journeys.
Nathan Lyon dismissed two Pakistani tailenders in succession on Day 4 to reach 500 wickets in his Test profile. The Australian off-spinner had also collected three scalps during the first Pakistani innings to hand his side a huge lead at the halfway stage of the game.
Lyon’s five-wicket match haul against Pakistan helped him to become only the third Australian cricketer after Glenn McGrath and late Shane Warne; and the eighth overall in history to attain 500 or more Test wickets.
Moreover, the 36-year-old also became only the fourth spinner after Warne, Muralidaran and Indian great Anil Kumble; and the second off-spinner to achieve the coveted milestone.
