Day 3 of the quarter-finals in the Ranji Trophy is underway but just in case you missed the action from yesterday, here is a quick sum-up of all that happened. The Day 2 of four simultaneous quarter-finals of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season witnessed intense battles as the fight for the four semi-final spots continued to heat up. Bengal vs Jharkhand


Bengal resumed their first innings from where they left off on Day 1, mounting runs with utter disdain. By the end of the second day, they reached 577-5 with no signs of declaring.


Sudip Kumar Gharami hammered 186 while Anustup Majumdar added 117 runs. Manoj Tiwary and Shahbaz Ahmed saw off the remaining overs before stumps at 54* and 7*, respectively.

Mumbai captain Prithvi Shaw finally called for a declaration at 647-8. Young Suved Parkar claimed several Ranji records en route to his 252-run knock. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan continued his purple patch with 153.


Uttarakhand failed to survive the remaining 11 overs in the day as they lost two wickets, including their captain Jay Gokul Bista who fell for a golden duck.

At the end of Day 2, Karnataka are in the driver’s seat. The match has seen the most progress out of all the quarter-finals. After the Manish Pandey-led side ended their first innings at 253, they shot out Uttar Pradesh for 155 to gain a 98-run lead.


Before the close of play, Karnataka managed to extend that lead up to 198 with two wickets still in hand.
