Rajat Patidar came into the Indian team for the Test series against England with great form and reputation and was expected to deliver straightaway. However, things have not gone his way in toughest format of the game and he has notched up only 62 runs in six innings so far.

Now, ahead of the final Test at Dharamsala against England, BCCI is likely to release Rajat Patidar for the Ranji Trophy semifinal against Vidarbha if KL Rahul gets fully match fit according to a report from Times of India.

KL Rahul scored an important 86 in the first Test match but has been out of action since then due to a quadriceps injury. He was expected to make his comeback in the fourth Test but could not recover fully, and is now in London for further assessment of his injury.

He would be a straight swap for Rajat Patidar at number 4 as Sarfaraz scored runs in the third Test and is highly unlikely that he would be dropped.

If Rajat Patidar does get released from the Indian squad it will be a big boost for Madhya Pradesh and would also give him some time to reflect on his game and get back into some form.
