Former captain Rahul Dravid has officially applied for the post of India’s head coach.
"Yes, Rahul has formally applied today as it's the last day of the deadline. His team at the NCA, bowling coach Paras (Mhambrey) and fielding coach Abhay (Sharma) have already applied. His application was just a formality," a senior BCCI official told PTI on Tuesday.
Dravid has had coaching stints with India ‘A’ and U19 teams in the past and has given some great results. The U19 side ended as the runners up in the 2016 World Cup under the captaincy of Ishan Kishan while lifted the trophy in 2018 under Prithvi Shaw’s leadership.
Dravid travelled with the Indian team that was led by Shikhar Dhawan during the tour of Sri Lanka for the limited-overs fixtures while the other senior members were in the UK for the WTC final and the Test series against England.
According to some reports, it is also learnt that either VVS Laxman or Anil Kumble might take up the NCA head’s post if Dravid takes up the coach’s jobs leaving the position vacant.
