In an unfortunate incident, an 11-year-old boy from Pune tragically passed away while playing cricket with his friends. The victim, identified as Shambhu Kalidas Khandve alias Shaurya, was enjoying a game of cricket in his summer holidays when the ball unexpectedly hit his genitals.
The impact instantly caused him to collapse on the ground, prompting his friends and bystanders to rush him towards a nearby hospital. However, Shaurya was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Earlier in May, Shaurya was playing a friendly game of cricket in the Lohegaon area of Pune. When he was bowling, a hard strike from the batter sent the ball hurtling directly towards Shaurya’s genitals, causing him to collapse.
His friends and bystanders all rushed to his aid in a bid to revive him. However, Shaurya remained unconscious and was declared dead upon his arrival at the hospital.
A case of accidental death was subsequently registered at the Vimantal police station on May 4, i.e., a couple of days after the incident.
Assistant Inspector Sachin Dhamane said that they are investigating the case and will soon be speaking with the other players present on the ground at the time of the accident.
Shaurya’s relative Rameshwar Poul said that the 11-year-old was a sixth grader with a keen interest in sports.
Bandu Khandave, the victim’s uncle, said that Shaurya had aspired to become a wrestler and had already started his training for the same. He also stated that the tragic incident highlights the importance of taking precautionary measures while playing.
