The brightest star in the Pakistani cricket space Babar Azam is considering moving from Karachi Kings to a different franchise in the Pakistan Super League. Having guided the team to a season title in 2020, Babar was miffed by the treatment of his case by a Media House closely knit with the owners of the Kings.
Along with the media house’ attitude, what makes Babar unhappy is the treatment that he gets at the Kings as even after being the national captain, he is not captain of his franchise side.
“Babar is unhappy with the franchise due to financial issues and concerns over the player’s image. This is precisely the reason why Babar was also absent in a major promotional activity carried out by the team owners, last season,” a Pakistan cricket website, Cricket Pakistan wrote.
“The prolific right-hander is also unhappy with the fact that a personal issue, involving him, was highlighted frequently by a media house that has close ties with the team owners,” the website further quoted sources as saying.
In the 2020 season of the PSL, the only season that the Karachi franchise won, beating Lahore Qalandars in the Final, Babar scored 472 runs in 11 innings at an average of almost 60 with five half-centuries in his kitty.
