Multan Sultans managed to put up 163/2 in 20 overs on the board on a track that had something on offer for the bowlers. Batting first, the Multan side lost an early wicket after Shan Masood was trapped in front of the stumps for a five-ball two.
But captain Mohammad Rizwan and Amir Azmat steadied the ship for the side and chipped in with a partnership of 47 runs for the second wicket. Azmat was eventually dismissed for 33 off 22 after he was stumped out by Salt off Samit Patel.
Rizwan was then joined by Rilee Rossouw and the two batters began to rebuild the innings for the side. While the captain held the fort at one end, Rossouw scored runs in a more aggressive manner as both the batters ended up notching up individual fifties during the course.
Rizwan remained unbeaten at 52 off 51, Rossouw scored 65* off 42. Hafeez was the pick of the bowlers for Qalandars after he picked up one wicket for 16 runs in 4 overs.
