Sourav Ganguly, one of the greatest and most celebrated cricketers, celebrates his 52nd birthday on Monday. In a recent post shared by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)on their official Twitter handle, the franchise shared a 'special post' and wished Sourav Ganguly a Happy Birthday.
It is important to note, that Sourav Ganguly shared a unique bond with the franchise. He was appointed as the captain of KKR in the 2008 and 2010 IPL seasons.
The 'Price of Kolkata' is remembered as one of the most successful captains that India has ever produced. Under his astute leadership, he mentored and groomed many players during that era notably MS Dhoni, Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan.
KKR's 'Special Birthday' Post For Sourav Ganguly
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), KKR wrote, “Maharaja. Dada. The Prince of Kolkata. Happy Birthday, Sourav Ganguly!”
In the year 1996, Ganguly made his debut for India in the Test series against England. The most iconic moment that grabbed everyone's attention was when Ganguly lifted his shirt over his head on the Lord's balcony after his team won the Natwest Trophy in 2002.
Taking a look at his career, the former cricketer has played 113 tests and 311 ODI's during his career. After taking retirement, he was appointed as the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal and later on became President of the BCCI.
