PCB Seeks Compensation From ACC Over Poor Turn Out in Asia Cup: Report

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) continue to remain at loggerheads over the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. The six-national tournament is being held across two nations, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - despite resistance from the PCB to keep matches in the latter nation.

However, persistent rains have ensured a poor turnout in matches held in Sri Lanka, which is a cause of concern for PCB, who wanted to host the Asia Cup in their own country.

Now, PCB, led by Zaka Ashraf, is reportedly seeking monetary compensation from the ACC over losing money due to a lack of crowd in the Sri Lankan leg.

As quoted by CricTracker, Ashraf revealed that a meeting between PCB, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) took place after India's clash against Nepal, where the possible shifting of venue was discussed, but ACC shunned the proposal.

Here's what Ashraf said

“In the meeting, it was agreed that since the forecast is that Hambantota would remain dry the matches in Colombo should be moved there."

The ACC has been facing a lot of flak about holding matches in Sri Lanka despite having knowledge of the weather forecast.

Meanwhile, Shah, who has been in the eye of the storm, explained that several shareholders and broadcasters expressed reservations over Pakistan hosting the competition.
