PCB provides medical update on Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Afridi

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently announced their squad for the ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2022, which will begin from October 16. The team led by Babar Azam resembles the Asia Cup 2022 squad quite a bit. After Pakistan's defeat to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup Final, many ex-cricketers were rooting for veteran batter Shoaib Malik to be called back. However, this did not happen.

While elite pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi has been named to the squad after missing the Asia Cup campaign due to injury, Shadab Khan has been named as the team's vice-captain. Due to a knee ailment, Fakhar Zaman, who had a dismal Asia Cup, has been dropped to the reserves list. PCB issued a press release on September 15 regarding the health of Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Update on Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi

Fakhar Zaman will travel to London on Friday (September 16) to begin his recovery, according to PCB. While fielding in the Asia Cup final in Dubai, he fell awkwardly to his right knee, resulting in a major knee injury. The PCB have booked appointments with the specialists who will be giving him the best medical care for his rehabilitation in accordance with the rules.

The PCB will make all necessary logistical arrangements for Fakhar throughout his stay in London, and he will continue to be under the care of the PCB Advisory Panel, which includes Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad and Dr. Zafar Iqbal, who are also caring for Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Shaheen Shah Afridi is reportedly making great strides in his recuperation in London and is on course to be fully fit in time for the ICC Men's T20I World Cup 2022, according to the PCB.

Additionally, they stated in the press release that the PCB have always been and will always be in charge of setting up medical care and rehabilitation for any of its players who need it.
