PCB faces challenges as Pakistan Junior League clashes with T20 World Cup

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja had earlier announced the launch of his dream project, the Pakistan Junior League. The inaugural season of the tournament is scheduled to commence on October 1.

However, the cricket board already seems to be facing troubles organizing the event, considering a T20 World Cup is also slated to be played in the same month.

As per reports, the PCB is struggling to hire foreign cricketers as mentors for teams in the Pakistan Junior League. Several overseas cricketing personalities have already rejected PCB’s proposals because of their commentating and media engagement contracts for the mega T20 event Down Under.

As many as six teams are slated to participate in the upcoming junior league. The PCB had planned to appoint foreign stars as mentors/coaches in three of the six teams, while the remaining three sides will have former Pakistan cricketers.

Despite being unable to sign any former cricketer from an overseas country, PCB continues to remain hopeful of signing big names in time for the competition.

In other news, Chairman Ramiz Raja has included Faisal Mirza as a committee member of the Pakistan Junior League. However, Mirza’s name was not present in the initial office order.

Other members in the committee are CEO Faisal Hasnain, COO Salman Naseer and CFO Javed Murtaza, while Nadeem Khan is named the tournament director.

Notably, one of the senior figures of the PCB wants Mirza to be named as the director of the Pakistan Super League.
