Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi is confident of hosting the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan, despite the never-ending assumptions involving India’s reluctancy of travelling to the country.

As per recent reports, BCCI’s unwillingness of sending Team India to Pakistan has already prompted speculations of the tournament potentially following a hybrid model, which would see the PCB co-hosting the event with UAE. However, the PCB chief has now implied that the tournament will not be shifted out of Pakistan in any capacity and the board is already renovating their designated venues.

While speaking at the press conference of the PSL 2024 final in Karachi, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi said that the board is not even considering the possibility of shifting the 2025 Champions Trophy out of Pakistan.

Naqvi added that he spoke with BCCI secretary Jay Shah in Dubai during an ICC meeting earlier this month. When asked by the reporters about BCCI’s reluctancy of sending Team India to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy citing security concerns, the PCB chief said:

“I am not even thinking on those lines we are confident we will host the Champions Trophy on schedule in Pakistan.”

Naqvi also stated that the PCB would soon be renovating three stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, thus, hinting out possible venues for the multi-nation tournament in 2025.

Back in mid-2023 during the Asia Cup, Pakistan ended up co-hosting the continental event with Sri Lanka despite starting out as the sole hosts of the competition. Team India played their share of matches in the island nation, where they lifted the trophy by winning a one-sided final.
