In Pakistan, the Karachi Kings comprehensively routed Quetta Gladiators in match eight of the PSL 2025 season. In other news, the CSK franchise roped in Dewald Brevis as an injury replacement for fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh.

Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Friday, April 18.

Wadhera Keeps Cool As Bowlers-Backed PBKS Beat RCB

Punjab Kings pipped hosts RCB in Bengaluru in a rain-curtailed 14-over game. Bowling first, fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh (2-23) and Marco Jansen (2-10) jolted the RCB with early wickets, before spinners Yuzvendra Chahal (2-11) and Harpreet Brar (2-25) sustained their team’s positive momentum. With RCB only managing to list 95-9, Tim David himself blasted 50* of those runs from just 26 balls with five fours and three huge sixes.

Chasing 96, Punjab Kings slipped to 53-4 courtesy of Josh Hazlewood’s fighting three-fer, but a composed 19-ball 33* from Nehal Wadhera ensured the visitors soared past the finishing line with five wickets and 11 balls to spare.

Ireland Beat Scotland In Women’s Qualifiers Thriller

Ireland Women overcame their Scottish counterparts by a wicket off the very last ball of match 13 of the Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers. Scotland batted first and mounted 268-7 from 50 overs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with captain Kathryn Bryce leading the charge by blasting an unbeaten 131 from 137 balls. For the Irish, Ava Canning delivered the spell of the innings with figures of 3-48, and Cara Murray made her presence felt with two wickets.

Chasing 269, Ireland slipped to 209-7 at one stage courtesy of Katherine Fraser (2-37), Chloe Abel (2-50) and Kathryn (3-49). However, Bryce’s all-round excellence went in vain as half-centuries from Sarah Forbes, Gaby Lewis and Laura Delany ensured Ireland’s late victory.

David Warner’s Karachi Pummel Gladiators

Karachi Kings thumped Quetta Gladiators by 56 runs in the eighth match of the PSL 2025 season at Karachi’s National Stadium. Batting first, the Karachi Kings formed 175-7 from 20 overs courtesy of James Vince’s explosive 47-ball 70. Captain David Warner himself belted 31 quick runs, while Mohammad Amir and Ali Majid picked up two wickets each for the Gladiators.

In response, the Gladiators accrued just 119-9 from 20 overs to fall to their second defeat of the tournament. Hasan Ali delivered a match-winning three-fer for the Karachi Kings, and the speedster received much assistance from Mohammad Nabi and Abbas Afridi.

CSK Rope In Dewald Brevis As Injury Replacement

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise roped in South African batting dynamite Dewald Brevis as an injury replacement for fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season. Brevis is fondly nicknamed ‘Baby AB’ for his explosive batting abilities in the middle overs, much reminiscent to that of former South African captain AB De Villiers. The 22-year-old has so far played 10 IPL matches in his career, all for the Mumbai Indians franchise during the 2022 and 2024 editions of the tournament.

BAN vs ZIM Tests Get Broadcasting Partner

Bangladesh’s two-match home Test series against Zimbabwe this month will be broadcasted live on the State-run Bangladesh Television (BTV), as confirmed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) a couple of days prior to the series-opener. Earlier this month, the BCB failed to attract a media rights partner even after putting up financial proposals for the same. The first Test of the series will be played between April 20 and April 24 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
