Sri Lanka announce ODI squad after losing Test series [Source: @ICC/x]
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a 16-player squad for the Sri Lankan men’s cricket team for their upcoming two-match ODI series against Australia. Set to be led by Charith Asalanka, the Sri Lankan squad also features fellow senior pros and ODI stars like Pathum Nissanka, Wanindu Hasaranga as well as Test batting sensation Kamindu Mendis.
SLC announce Sri Lanka squad for AUS series
SLC has announced Sri Lanka’s 16-player squad for the upcoming two-match ODI series against the visiting Australian team. Both matches of the series will be hosted by the iconic R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on February 12 and February 14.
Taking to social media, the SLC also confirmed that both matches of the series will be Day affairs, with action slated to commence from 10:00 AM IST onwards. Here is a look at the entire Sri Lankan squad for the upcoming ODI series against Australia:
Charith Asalanka (c), Pathum Nissanka, Avishka Fernando, Kusal Mendis, Kamindu Mendis, Janith Liyanage, Nishan Madushka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Mohamed Shiraz and Eshan Malinga
Australia’s two-week long tour of Sri Lanka started off with a two-match Test series at the Galle International Stadium. Australia won both Tests with convincing margins to seal the series 2-0. Interim captain Steve Smith won the ‘Player of the Series’ award for plundering two tons across both matches.
Nonetheless, the ODI series against Sri Lanka marks Australia’s final set of fixtures before the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
