Pace Sensation Gerald Coetzee Ruled Out Of MLC 2024; Check The Unfortunate Reason

Gerald Coetzee, the South African pacer who represents Mumbai Indians in the IPL, has been sidelined from MLC 2024 due to an injury sustained during a match. 

Coetzee plays for Texas Super Kings in MLC and was injured during their season opener against Los Angeles Knight Riders. He finished the game with figures of 1 for 28 from his four overs.

Coetzee ruled out of MLC

As of now Texas Super Kings have not yet announced a replacement player for injured Coetzee. Veteran CSK legend Dwayne Bravo was selected by Texas Super Kings (TSK) for the match against Washington Freedom, but the game was washed out.

Gerald Coetzee was included in South Africa's squad for the T20 World Cup, but he did not feature in the starting eleven of South Africa led by captain Markram. Rabada, Jansen, and Nortje were the preferred pacers for South Africa during the tournament.

South Africa's upcoming major tournament is against West Indies who co-hosted T20 World Cup, where Coetzee has been named in the 16-member squad for the test series. Coetzee now has one month to regain his fitness and secure his place in the test series squad. 

The first Test of the series is scheduled for August 7 in Trinidad, with the second Test following on August 15 in Guyana.
