New Zealand explosive opening batsman Martin Guptill shared a heartfelt tribute to his teammate Ross Taylor who parted ways with International cricket in an ODI game on Monday (4 April).
Ross Taylor played his last match in New Zealand jersey against the Netherlands in the third and final ODI match at Seddon Park, New Zealand.
"This is it. This is the last time we saw him walk out of the New Zealand team. It'll be even more emotional when we wake up tomorrow morning and Ross is no longer going to be there. It will be tough, but we will have a good night tonight celebrating the Netherlands vs New Zealand series," said Martin Guptill in his tribute to Taylor.
"Rosco (Ross Taylor) is an absolute legend, and all of us are going to miss him around the group. He has been phenomenal and absolutely lovely and hopefully, we can catch up over the coming years," he further added.
In his scintillating ODI career, Taylor piled up 8,607 runs in 236 matches at an admirable average of 47.52. In the game's longest format, the 38-year old cricketer bagged 8602 runs with 21 hundreds to his name. Meanwhile, he played 102 T20Is as well.
It might not have been the desired end to a brilliant career as the veteran could only score 26 runs in three matches, but New Zealand comfortably outplayed the Netherlands to seal the ODI series 3-0.
