Former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik recently gave his take over the world’s best all-format batter at the moment. To everyone’s surprise, the dashing wicketkeeper-batter did not pick either of the two Indian batting heavyweights, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

Instead, Karthik chose this firebrand Australian batter who won the 2023 WTC in England and the 2023 Cricket World Cup, both in the space of just a few months last year.

Dinesh Karthik, who announced his retirement earlier this year, was recently asked to give his pick as the world’s best all-format batter at the moment. Without hesitation, the 39-year-old named aggressive Australian batter Travis Head for his consistent run with the bat across all three forms of the game off late.

While speaking on Cricbuzz, he said:

“Have to say Travis Head is right in front of the pack.”

Compatible with Dinesh Karthik’s opinion, Travis Head engineered Australia’s emphatic victories at the 2023 WTC and the 2023 World Cup, both over India last year.

In the WTC final at The Oval, Head smacked 163 runs from just 174 balls to rescue Australia on the opening day, thus handing India a 209-run defeat in a one-sided contest. A few months later at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the left-hander smeared another 137 runs from just 120 balls to navigate Australia to its sixth World Cup title.

Earlier this year, the cricketer turned up for the SRH franchise in the IPL 2024 season. Making 567 runs in just 15 innings, Head minted his runs at a staggering strike rate of 191.55.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, meanwhile, recently bowed out of the T20I format after clinching the 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies. The two modern-day batting behemoths are currently bracing themselves for grueling Test series against New Zealand and Australia.
