In the latest developments in Indian cricket, KL Rahul is likely to lead India in the upcoming multi-format series against Sri Lanka.
A couple of days ago, there were reports that BCCI is mulling to give rest to Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah for the series against Sri Lanka starting on July 27.
In the latest events, Vipul Kashyap, a sports correspondent from ANI reported that KL Rahul is likely to lead team India in the three-match ODI series against the Island Nation in Rohit's absence.
Further, Kashyap mentioned that Hardik Pandya will likely be rested for the upcoming series but will lead the Men in Blue in T20Is after that series as Rohit has announced his retirement from T20Is.

With Hardik likely to miss the Sri Lankan series, it is to be seen who will captain the side in the shortest format. It is likely that Shubman Gill, who is leading the side against Zimbabwe to captain the side there as well.
Talking about KL Rahul, he has been a star performer for India in the fifty-over game. He last played an ODI on December 21, 2023, against South Africa.
The series will also mark Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as India's head coach.
