Netherlands name 16-man squad for West Indies ODIs

The Netherlands have named a strong 16-man squad for the upcoming three-match One-day International series against the West Indies.

The 16-man squad will be led by experienced campaigner Pieter Seelaar with stand-in coach Ryan Cook resuming his stint in the absence of regular head coach Ryan Campbell.

The squad boasts of tried and tested names like Bas de Leede, Fred Klaasen, and Philippe Boissevain. The home side will be looking to make a strong start to the season, which will also see them lock horns against the likes of Pakistan and World Champions England.

The three ODIs are a part of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup ODI Super League, and the series will offer an opportunity for the Dutch to improve their position in the points table.

The Pieter Seelaar-led unit is currently languishing at the last spot in the points table after having managed just 2 victories in 12 outings.

This will also be the first time that the West Indies will play an international series in the Netherlands.

The West Indies will also usher in a new era with this series, with swashbuckling wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran kickstarting his stint as white-ball skipper.

The Men in Maroon have named a strong squad to take on the Netherlands, with the exception of all-rounder Jason Holder, who has been rested, and opener Evin Lewis, who has been overlooked due to fitness issues.

The three-match series will take place at VRA, Amstelveen, on May 31, June 02 & 04, respectively.
