Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag heaped high praise on Rahul Tewatia on Saturday night after the southpaw engineered yet another heist to get his side Gujarat Titans past the finishing line against Punjab Kings.
Tewatia, who has already won a game for Gujarat with the bat this season, again turned up the heat and left everyone gobsmacked with his temperament as he hammered consecutive sixes of the last two deliveries of the match to seal an epic heist.
Tewatia walked out to bat in the final over following the runout of Hardik Pandya.
With 19 required off the last five deliveries, Odean Smith conceded just five runs off the next two deliveries. It could have been even better had he not needlessly tried to run out Tewatia at the non-striker end after Miller jammed a delivery straight to him.
He missed the throw, allowing Tewatia to scamper for a single. This reduced the equation to 12 off 2 balls, and Tewatia did the rest by smoking Smith for two sixes.
This is not the first time Tewatia has obliterated a West Indian bowler representing the Punjab Kings. Back in 2020, the left-hander, representing Rajasthan Royals, hammered Sheldon Cottrell into pieces to smash an outrageous 50 and lead RR to the highest-ever run-chase in IPL history.
Following yet another heist from Tewatia, Sehwag took to his Twitter account, where he wrote, "Waah Lord Tewatia,... Need his statue in the Punjab Kings dugout.
Tewatia's heist meant that Shubman Gill's brilliant knock of 96 (59) did not go in vain as the Titans scripted their third consecutive win of the season.
