NED vs WI | 2nd ODI | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

Netherlands will take on West Indies in the second ODI of the three-match series on Thursday (June 2nd) at VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen.

The Netherlands lost the first ODI against a spirited West Indies side and will be eager to put up a better show this time around. They fought bravely but were outdone by the class of Shai Hope.

The Oranje were brilliant early, with the bat, thanks to the 19-year-old left-hander Vikramjit, who registered 63 for the first wicket with Max O'Dowd, scoring 47 off 45 himself.

Later, the host lost their momentum, losing wickets consistently after a good start and ended up with a total of 240 for 7, following a rain interruption. Debutant Teja Nidamanuru impressed everyone with the bat as he added 55 for the 7th wicket with van Beek at the end, topping his side's scoring chart with 58.

On the other side of the halfway mark, West Indies chased down the readjusted target of 247 via the DLS method quite comfortably. Shai Hope scored an outstanding unbeaten 119, his first century since March 2021, followed by Brandon King's 58*. After a few hiccups caused by Van Beek, who took two consecutive wickets, the West Indies were calm enough and went on to win the First ODI by seven wickets.

Having lost seven consecutive ODIs now, the Netherlands must think about how they can bounce back to winning ways. Meanwhile, West Indies would be looking to build on the momentum from here for a clean sweep, which will take them to the top three of the ODI Super League standings, although other teams have a handful of games in their hands unlike the Windies.

Pitch Report: The pitch at the VRA Cricket Ground in Amstelveen played very well during the first ODI. The opening batters enjoyed their stay early in the innings as the new ball was coming into the bat brilliantly before the spinners controlled the game in the middle overs. The Netherlands scored 240 in 45 overs, and West Indies managed to chase it with 11 balls to spare. So, the team winning the toss should be batting first on this pitch. The average first inning score is around 240.
