NED vs ENG | 3rd ODI | Preview, Prediction, Probable XI, CREX XI

Netherlands will be up against the challenge of England in the third and final fixture of the 3-match ODI series on 22 June (Wednesday) at VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen.

In the 2nd ODI, Netherlands opted to bat first. However they again had a horrid start, but the knocks of Bas de Leede (34) and Scott Edwards (78) stabilized the team and helped them to post a total of 235 runs on the board in 41 overs (overs reduced due to rain). David Willey and Adil Rashid scalped two wickets each for the visitors.

In reply, Three Lions got off to a terrific start, with the openers Jason Roy (73) and Phil Salt (77) stitching a 139-run stand in 17 overs. Although Eoin Morgan and Liam Livingstone could not provide enough contributions, the duo of Dawid Malan (36*) and Moeen Ali (42*)  paved the way for the team to chase down the score with around five overs to spare. Aryan Dutt was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets.

The regular Dutch skipper Pieter Seelaar announced his retirement from the game due to back injury, and Scott Edwards will lead the team. They are expected to include the experienced players like Fred Klaassen and Paul Van Meekeren, who have returned after a stint with their respective county teams.

On the other hand, England can give an opportunity to the talented David Payne in place of Reece Topley in the final fixture. No other changes are expected in the XI, as they will look to complete the series whitewash and get to the top of the Men’s World Cup Super League Table.

Pitch Report:

Both matches of this series have witnessed the teams batting first scoring runs at a rate of around 6 runs per over, and the same is expected in this fixture as well. The pacers have been able to take most of the wickets, and will be particularly valuable with the new ball. The teams chasing down the score will have an edge, due to the surface remaining the same throughout the duration of the fixture.
