Nasser Hussain labels Matthew Potts as England's find of the summer

Starting with Ollie Robinson, Olly Stone, Sam Curran, and Craig Overton, England have been blessed to unearth good fast bowlers in the recent past. The newest entrant on this list is 23-year-old Matthew Potts, who made his international debut against New Zealand last month.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain, who has often been the voice of English cricket, has already called Potts the 'find of England's summer' already. 

Potts, so far in this 4-Test career, has scalped 14 wickets and has a chance to add a few more to his tally during India's second innings in the ongoing fifth and final Test of the Pataudi Trophy.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Hussain said, "Potts again, an excellent day. He has been the find of the summer for England with the ball, and If you give him that before the start of the summer, you're going to get Williamson three times and Kohli just after lunch on day one of the fourth Test, he would have taken it."

Potts, who claimed Virat Kohli's wicket on Day 1 of the Edgbaston Test, ended up being taken to the cleaners by Rishabh Pant during his knock of 146, which saw the young star sway away from his line and length.

Work on bowling against left-handers

The Chennai-born also advised Potts to work his bowling against left-handers, which has been a concern for him.

"To the right-hander, it angles in and nips away. To the left-hander, he's not quite as effective. Looking at his stats in first-class cricket, he's something like 22 or 23 against right-handers. He's got 40 against left-handers."

"He's got Broad and Anderson at the other end to learn from against left-handers. They are brilliant against them. It's just an area he's going to have to improve on," Hussain explained.

Potts has so far 91 First-Class wickets from 27 matches for Durham County.

On his Test debut, Potts picked four wickets for just 13 runs, where his victims were Kane Williamson, Tom Blundell, Daryl Mitchell, and Ajaz Patel.  

He was a non-playing member of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars (LQ), who won their maiden title this year.
