Naseem Shah slams Pakistan ground facilities post county stint in England

Young Pakistan talent Naseem Shah recently returned from a County stint in England. The 19-year-old played one first-class match and three T20 Blast games for Gloucestershire. The cricketer was set to play more matches in England; however, a shoulder injury prompted him out of the side.

The Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has already signed in former Pakistan speedster Mohammad Amir as his replacement.

Reflecting on his maiden County experience, Shah said he was left surprised at the facilities available for domestic players in England. He compared their grounds and facilities with that of Pakistan, and claimed that Pakistan players “don’t even get 30 percent of the amenities available to English club cricketers.

Speaking with Cricket Pakistan, the right-arm fast bowler said, “I think we don’t even have 30 per cent of the facilities available to club cricketers here in England. I know where I’ve come from, I started playing cricket with a tape ball, and when I see the cricketers playing here, it’s completely different.

Here, when I play a club match, and I see the ground and facilities, I think, wow, these guys are so lucky. They have so many facilities.”

In 2019, at the tender age of 16, Shah made his international debut with a baptism of fire in Australia. So far, he has collected 26 wickets across 11 Tests he has played for his country.

Welsh Fire recently bought him for the 2022 edition of The Hundred competition. However, the pacer is set to miss matches for a month following his untimely shoulder injury.
