MS Dhoni is not just a legendary figure of Indian cricket but also the face of IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings. Having joined forces in 2008, the prodigious captain led CSK to as many as five IPL championships and two CT titles.

Having said that, MS Dhoni has encountered Father's Time, and the inevitable age factor is taking a big toll. Dhoni played through a chronic knee injury in the 2023 IPL season, and the discomfort was vividly visible in his demeanor.

Subsequently, the former Indian captain underwent knee surgery and has been in rehabilitation ever since.

Meanwhile, with IPL 2024 around the horizon, suspense over MS Dhoni's participation is building up, and the fans remain anxious.

MS Dhoni Yet To Commit To IPL 2024!

Amid waves of uncertainty, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan dropped a major hint on Dhoni's present health status while revealing the truth about his alleged participation.

While speaking to Jio Cinema during the auction, Vishwanathan reckoned MS Dhoni has the liberty to decide on his future independently. The franchise won't intervene under any circumstances.

"Dhoni will make the decision himself. He hasn’t informed us yet, and it’s up to him. So far, he hasn’t given us any hints either,” CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said on JioCinema.

Further addressing the 2024 season uncertainty, the CEO confirmed that the former captain is yet to inform the franchise of his intention to participate in the impending season. Not only that, Vishwanathan added that MS has not even dropped a hint on what he thinks about his future in the IPL.

That being said, Dhoni, 42, will someday call it quits, and fans have been curious to know details about his successor. It's important to note that filling Dhoni's void is a daunting task for any player whatsoever. He not only led his team to record numbers of IPL titles but also left an eternal legacy that has been etched into CSK's history of existence.

However, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming revealed that the franchise has been trying to build a roadmap for a future without Dhoni for over a decade now. These talks will keep on happening on the sidelines. But as long as MS is involved, he will lead the franchise to the best of his ability.

"We’ve had plans in place for MS for around 10 years. It’s going to be a topic of discussion, but he is as involved and excited as I’ve seen him in a while. With that passion for the team and franchise, we’ll keep moving forward,” Fleming said.
