However, despite Rahul's scintillating century, DC couldn't prevent the Titans from securing a win, as the Shubman Gill-led side chased down the target without even losing a wicket. Interestingly, this was Rahul's second IPL ton which came in a losing cause.
Thus, he joined Hashim Amla, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson, the three other batters who have two IPL hundreds in losing causes.

KL Rahul Goes Past MS Dhoni
Meanwhile, Rahul also surpassed CSK captain MS Dhoni on the list of highest run-getters in a losing cause in IPL history. While Dhoni has 2373 runs in lost IPL matches, Rahul is currently placed sixth, with 2412 runs in a losing cause. Apart from two centuries, eighteen of his 40 fifties have come in lost matches.
DC's Playoffs Dream Takes A Hit
Meanwhile, the defeat against Gujarat Titans has further jeopardised DC's chances of qualifying for the IPL 2025 playoffs.
Their upcoming matches against Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings will be virtual knockouts, as another loss could lead them to a group-stage exit from the competition. Led by Axar Patel, DC will be up against Hardik Pandya's MI on May 21, Wednesday.
