  • Mohammed Shami Confident Of Sahas Return To The National Side Post Ipl 2022 Win

Mohammed Shami confident of Saha's return to the national side post-IPL 2022 win

Under the spirited guidance of first-time captain Hardik Pandya, Gujarat Titans won the IPL 2022 trophy in their maiden tournament outing. They defeated Sanju Samson's Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets in the final, with captain Pandya claiming the 'Player of the Match' award for his all-round spectacle.

Remarkably, throughout the Gujarat Titans' victorious campaign this year, the franchise witnessed several players taking up the onus and rising to the challenge. One of those clutch seasonal performances came from none other than their dynamic wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha.

Mohammed Shami praises teammate Saha post-IPL 2022 win

Team India veteran and Gujarat Titans speedster Mohammed Shami praised his teammate Saha and expressed confidence in his comeback to the national side.

Shami, who has played international and domestic cricket alongside the wicketkeeper, said, "He is with me from the last 20 years. We know each other well; we know what we can do. Everybody has seen the capabilities that he has."

Talking about Saha's potential return to the Indian team, the legendary pacer added, "Bas Chance milne ki der hai" (translation: it's just a matter of time before getting selected).

The 37-year-old gloveman last played for India in a home Test match against New Zealand in December 2021. Since then, he missed the South African Test tour and the home series against Sri Lanka.

Saha was not considered for India's 17-member Test squad for the upcoming fifth Test match against England in July.

"This is my fifth final and I am winning it for the second time. This feels good. The way we have played...some people said that our squad is not good. We have proved everybody wrong throughout the season and we have won the final. It feels really good," Saha said.

In an international career launched in 2010, the Bengal-based cricketer has only played 40 Tests and 9 ODIs for the country.

ENG vs NZ | Trent Boult and Henry Nicholls doubtful for 1st Test against England

The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) announced the 15-man squad to face England in the 3-match Test series starting June 2 at Lord's. The players like Jacob Duffy, Blair Tickner, Rachin Ravindra, and Hamish Rutherford, who were part of the 20-player camp on this tour, could not make it to the final squad. Rutherford will feature for Leicestershire in T20 Blast 2022, and the other three players will be heading back home. https://twitter.com/BLACKCAPS/status/1531284070637965313 The Wellington captain and all-rounder Michael Bracewell has been added as the cover for Henry Nicholls, who is still on the road to recovery from a right calf injury. The left-arm fast bowler Trent Boult was a part of the Rajasthan Royals (RR) team, who emerged as the runner-up in IPL 2022. Although he has reached London, Boult is doubtful for the series opener. The New Zealand head coach Gary Stead spoke on Monday regarding the availability of Boult. "Trent arrives in later today and we'll see how he scrubs up but we've had conversations leading up into this. It's part of the world and the way it is right now and I guess with the complexity of putting schedules together and then you have the IPL on top of that, it just adds another layer to it all," Stead was quoted by Espncricinfo. In the past ten days, the Kiwi team faced Sussex and County Select XI in the warmup matches, and the players doing well-received backing from the team management. The likes of Daryl Mitchell and Cam Fletcher hit a half-century against the County Select XI. On the other hand, the team's only spinner Ajaz Patel was the consistent wicket-taker for the team. It will be interesting to see if the team management includes Patel in playing XI, as they have been featuring an all-seam attack in the recent few Test series. The likes of Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, and Neil Wagner are the confirmed bowlers, while it will be a toss-up between Patel and Matt Henry. NZ squad for ENG Test Series: Kane Williamson (c), Tom Blundell (wk), Trent Boult, Devon Conway, Colin de Grandhomme, Cam Fletcher (wk), Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Ajaz Patel, Tim Southee, Neil Wagner, Will Young, Michael Bracewell (16th man)
