Moeen Ali retires from Test cricket for the second time
Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali, who had previously announced that he would 'unretire' from Test cricket has now, once again, overturned his decision. The all-rounder was planning a Test comeback prior to England's series against Pakistan.
In June, Ali had "unretired" from the format after a conversation with England's new head coach Brendon McCullum after bring unsure about his participation in the format.
In a recent development, Ali penned down that he is unwilling to return to the format in December. He captained England in the T20I series against Pakistan and drove the team to 4-3 win, in the absence of regular captain Jos Buttler.
Moeen Ali on retiring once again
"I've had an honest chat with Baz [McCullum] about the tour and I really can't see myself being stuck in hotels for another month and playing Test cricket to the best of my ability."
"Yes, I said I was 'unretired' in the summer and watching the boys, I got the feeling I properly miss this and that this is how I've always wanted to play the game."
"But the more I thought about it and discussed with those close to me, I knew deep down why I was done. Test cricket is hard work. I don't think my mindset would be any different even if the restrictions were lifted in Pakistan. I'm 35 now and something's got to give."
