MI suffered a defeat against DC after the Rishabh Pant-led side chased down a tricky total of 138 by 6 wickets and with 5 balls to spare.
The Delhi side lost Prithvi Shaw early in the chase after he departed for 7 but Shikhar Dhawan who has been in some form for quite sometime steadied the ship with DC’s new inclusion Steve Smith and stitched a stand of 53 runs for the second wicket.
While Smith scored 33 off 29, Dhawan fell short of a half-century by just 5 runs to get dismissed for 45 off 42. The Delhi team then lost new captain Pant in a quick succession but Lalit Yadav played a handy knock of 22* runs off 25 deliveries and resisted well at one end. West Indies batsman Shimron Hetmyer too chipped in with a responsible knock as he remained unbeaten for 14 off 9 to see DC home.
Earlier, riding on some fine piece of spin bowling from Amit Mishra, DC restricted MI to 137/9 in 20 overs. Mishra picked up a four-wicket haul during the course.
