Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Harris provided his moral support to Naseem Shah, who has been ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023 due to a shoulder injury. Naseem will undergo a surgery and will likely remain out of auction up until the next year's Pakistan Super League.
He sustained the injury in the recently-concluded Asia Cup. In the Super Four from the fixture versus India, the fast-bowler went out of the field while completing his 10th over, managing to bowl only two deliveries.
As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-player squad for the upcoming World Cup on Friday, Naseem, who for obvious reasons did not get included, expressed his disappointment.
Tweeting from his official X account, he wrote:
"With a heavy heart, I'm sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. While I'm disappointed, I believe everything is in Allah's hands. InshahAllah will be on the field very soon. Thank you to all my fans for the prayers!"
Replying to Naseem's post, Haris, in a kind gesture, encouraged Naseem, asking him to stay strong. He also uploaded an edited image along with the tweet, telling the pacer to take his shoulder instead.
"Stay strong dost ❤️," Haris tweeted.
Haris will travel to India as the reserve wicket-keeper, while Hasan Ali has received a call-up and will fill in Naseem's position.
