Massive allegations made by Shoaib Akhtar, claims 12 teammates were involved in match-fixing

Cricket in Pakistan has been often marred by match and spot-fixing scandals. Legendary fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, has opened pandora's box again and made a sensational revelation about his former teammates' involvement in match-fixing.

Speaking to GeoSuper, the Rawalpindi Express clarified, "I can't tolerate lies. Hence I never fixed or even thought to fix a game. 12 of my former teammates were involved in match-fixing. I knew, but I never said anything. My mother used to tell me 'Never ever sell your country'."

Akhtar's defining moment in his Test career was scalping the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid off consecutive deliveries at Eden Gardens, featuring in just his ninth Test.

Known for his aggression, Akhtar recently said he would have hit umpires and batters after being denied a wicket. "At least 30-40 times during my career, I wanted to punch the umpire in the ribs, or wanted to smash the batters on the head with a bat," he expressed.

The 46-year-old has allegedly hit his teammate Mohammad Asif with a bat after a spat in the dressing room during the 2007 T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The right-arm pacer played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for Pakistan. He also featured in the ODI World Cups in 1999, 2003, and 2011. Pakistan finished as runners-up during the 1999 edition in England.
