Mystics steamroll Tigers by 9 wickets in one-sided contest

A majestic bowling performance followed by an explosive batting by Devdutt Padikkal and Rohan Patil saw Gulbarga Mystics storm to a nine-wicket victory over Hubli Tigers at Mysore on Friday, August 12.

Chasing a paltry victory target of 146, the last match-centurion Rohan Patil and Devdutt Padikkal exhibited killer intent as the duo forged up a match-winning 92-run partnership for the opening wicket.

While Padikkal perished after 47-ball 62, Patil stood firm in the middle and stacked unbeaten 61 runs from 40 balls to take his side home in just 16.4 overs and nine wickets in hand.

Jeswath Acharya also tonked a few shots at the backend to go unbeaten with 17 off 13. For the Hubli Tigers, only Abhimanyu Mithun could manage to scalp a wicket while others were taken to the cleaners.

Gulbarga Mystics kept the Tigers on their toes

Earlier opting to field first after winning the toss, Gulbarga Mystics bowlers did a remarkable job by restricting Hubli Tigers to a petty score of 145/8 in 20 overs.

The likes of Ritesh Bhatkal (2/13), Abilash Shetty (2/26) and Manoj S Bhandage (2/19) all grabbed up two wickets each to derail Hubli's batting line-up.

For the Tigers, Tushar Singh top-scored with a 32-ball 42 while M Gneshwar Naveen and Luvnith Sisodia chipped in 24 and 30 runs respectively to take their side to a respectable total of 145 at the end of the first inning.

Apart from the aforementioned triad, none of the Hubli batters could survive the ferocious bowling attack of Gulbarga Mystics.

It was the third straight win for the Manish Pandey-led Gulbarga Mystics as they now find themselves leading the points ranking with six points.

Hubli Tigers, on the other hand, succumbed to their third loss from of the season. They currently occupy the second-last position at the league table.
