The president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, confirmed that the 2022 edition of the Women's T20 Challenge will be held in Lucknow between May 24-28 alongside the closing stages of the ongoing IPL 2022.
Earlier it was reported that the 3-team competition was to be held in Pune, but Ganguly later confirmed that Lucknow would host the entire tournament.
"The Women's Challenger series will be held between May 24-28 at Lucknow's Ekana Stadium," BCCI president Ganguly told the media, as quoted by the Press Trust of India.
The three-team tournament, comprising IPL Supernovas, IPL Trailblazers and IPL Velocity, will be played at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
The Women's T20 Challenge, which began in 2018, wasn't held in 2021 due to the covid-19 restrictions. IPL Supernovas have been the most successful side of the tournament, having won the title twice, while IPL Trailblazers are the defending champions.
Another significant development that took place in the apex meeting on Saturday was the announcement of the venues for the IPL play-offs, eliminator and final.
Ganguly confirmed that the first play-offs and the eliminator will be held at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, followed by the 2nd qualifier and the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
"As far as the men's IPL knock-out stage matches are concerned, it would be held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad, with 100% attendance allowed for the matches to be played after the league staged finishes on May 22," he added.
