LPL 2022 schedule | Jaffna to lock horns with Galle in the opening game

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), on Tuesday (June 12), released the schedule of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2022. 

The tournament kickstarts with the reigning champions Jaffna Kings taking on the Galle Gladiators on August 1.

The twenty-over tournament governed by SLC will be played in the double-round robin format. 

In total, 24 matches will be played during the 13-day long tournament, with twenty 1st round league and four final-round league matches, including the Finals.

The first fourteen games are scheduled at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo, with the tournament shifting to Hambantota from August 13 2022.

Jaffna Kings, Galle Gladiators, Colombo Stars, Kandy Falcons, and Dambulla Giants are the five teams that will compete for the title.

The tournament will feature 353 cricketers, among which 180 overseas players and 173 local players will represent their respective franchises. 

Each team’s roster will include 20 players, consisting of fourteen Sri Lankans and six overseas cricketers.

4th August 2022- Kandy vs Galle, Jaffna vs Dambulla at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo

5th August 2022- Kandy vs Colombo, Galle vs Dambulla at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo

8th August 2022- Colombo vs Dambulla, Galle vs Jaffna at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo

August 9 2022- Kandy vs Dambulla, Colombo vs Galle at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo

10th August 2022- Kandy vs Jaffna, Dambulla vs Colombo at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo

13th August 2022- Galle vs Kandy, Jaffna vs Colombo at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium, Hambantota
